Something's Fishy!
From Clara Lim of Singapore ,,,
Fred went to a pet store and bought three goldfish. The man gave him some advice
on raising them. Two days later, he returned and said to the man, "All my fish have
died." The man gave him another three healthy goldfish and told him to make sure that
the water was warm. Fred came back the next day with the same news as the previous day.
"I don't understand it," said the man. "I don't either," said Fred.
"I followed your advice. Maybe I planted them too deep in the ground."
Sheep Story
From Russell Baker of Burnsville, MN ,,,
Phil and Will built a skating rink in the middle of a pasture. One day a shepherd leading
his flock decided to take a shortcut across the rink. The sheep, however, were afraid of
the ice and wouldn't cross it. Desperate, the shaped began tugging them to the other
side.
"Look at that," remarked Phil
to Will. "That guy is trying to pull the wool over our ice!"
A Shaggy Dog Tale
Tim and his dog, Buddy went to a friend's
house to watch TV. In the middle of the show, Buddy started laughing so hard that he fell
off the couch. "Wow," said Tim's friend, "I've never seen a dog laugh
before. That's awesome." "It sure is," said Tim. "Especially since he
hated the book."
Dog Breath?
Edwin Rose must have one
of the world's weirdest jobs. He is a pet food taster for Safeway stores in England.
As recently reported in the Wall Street
Journal, the 31-year-old Rose spends his working days sampling different canned foods
intended for dogs and cats. His job is to figure out which combination of meats, sauces,
and spices will appeal most to dogs and cats -- and therefore will be the best sellers.
While all major pet food makers have testing laboratories that use animals, Rose, whose
wife teasingly calls him "Dog Breath," is the only human in the world known to
have a job like this -- and he likes it.
"I try to figure out from a dog or
cat's perspective what they like or don't like about a particular pet food," he says.
"Though I must confess that the premium cat foods are my favorite."
